Had to go to Wellington for a bit and took down some desk components to make a desk. I’ve been testing out the best way to coat these panels and also the rounded corners and edges (sanding finish, radius etc)
The final design wouldn’t have the ends of the beams showing on the desktop panel. I just didn’t want to cut any beams just then.
This design allows for the scaling of all sides and the desktop. the desktop can also be offset to the left or right relative to the back panel which creates space on both, or just one, side of the desk for shelves or tool storage.
The finish is great on the ply, but the ply is super thirsty and if I coat both sides it costs about the same as the plywood
working out how to do this better/cheaper.
The monitor mounting was a bit of an after thought, but it worked pretty well. ![]()
